Portrait of a Havanero

I found this picture while studying abroad in Havana. It was lying face down in a park in the Vedado neighborhood. This was one of the only things I found there that wasn’t just an uninteresting scrap of paper. It takes more luck and determination to find interesting things in cities with few trash receptacles.

The Mustachioed

One of many great finds from communal scanning beds. This one is from an art college computer lab. I can’t make out what is in the hand of the second guy. The aesthetics are so derivitave of Havana, or how Havana is portrayed, that it almost feels produced or costumed.

Havana Negatives

While walking down the street in Havana, I found a strip of negatives in the gutter, so I picked them up and printed them. I like the pictures because they’re not strange or dirty or seedy or suspicious, like many finds. They’re just nice; obviously meant to make someone happy.
