Beyond the Call of Duty

Found this on my way into Schnuck’s for some groceries after class one night. It seems Danny was helping put on a dance recital.

Granny Crush

At my place of business, we have an enter-to-win ballot box that I clean out once a week. This was written on the back of one of the entry forms. Don’t do it, Granny. He’s just trying to get in your will.

I Almost Feel Creative Tonite

In 1994 I bought the Bob Dylan Greatest Hits Vol. 2 LP at Discount Records (R.I.P.) and this 45 was stuck in the sleeve with the original two records.

Like I Heard It In My Heart

Found this paper in my yard, very wet. It must be from a girl listing her likes to her beloved.

Merry Christmas

I found this small note on the sidewalk (in front of some bars) in the Hawthorne neighborhood. Ruth seems like a nice lady.

Friendship Soup

Found stuck between the Frango Mints boxes on display at Marshall Field’s (now Macy’s) on State Street in Chicago a few days before Christmas.

What I Like About You

I saw this on the ground walking through the rain on Brigham Young University campus. It was folded and wet. Hope you’re happy, Bradley. It sounds like somebody loves you.

Grinding Down

Found this in the back of “The Bedside Book of the Art of Living” that I had found near an abandoned house in my neighborhood.

A Beautiful Butterfly

Found this crumpled up into a tight little ball, on the street in the fairly downtrodden Tenderloin District. Kinda sad that such a heartfelt message of hope got discarded with such intention.
