Life List

This scrap of paper was wedged between two floorboards in my cousin’s bedroom. Her family just moved into the house, and I guess one of the previous occupants left it behind. Moving on to greater things I guess.

Make Dummy

This grabbed onto the bottom of my left shoe June 6th along the route from the food market to the pedestrian overpass that spans the Emeryville Amtrak lines. I’m speculating that this was a down-on-his-luck puppeteer brainstorming how to turn things around for himself.

I Almost Feel Creative Tonite

In 1994 I bought the Bob Dylan Greatest Hits Vol. 2 LP at Discount Records (R.I.P.) and this 45 was stuck in the sleeve with the original two records.

Five Slayer T-Shirts

I stopped into a Fort Bragg laundromat on my way down the Pacific coast from Seattle and found this sheet laying inside. Apparently this guy lost some pretty important clothes.

With All My Heart

I found this Polaroid in a slipcased, leather-bound copy of the Complete Works of Shakespeare, marking Romeo and Juliet. On the back is written, “My Heart is Laid Open for You, Darlin’, Happy Valentine’s Day, 1966 (Age 16).”

Comedy Spy

Found a journal in front of my office after a day of rain. Apparently, crushing cans of Monster was something Nick really did not want to forget to take care of.

Punk Abrasion

Found on a rainy sidewalk circa 1983.

Hello Theo

A New Year’s letter to a prison pen pal. Found in North Park on a sidewalk.
