Crazy + Beautiful - The FOUND Video Show

Presented with our friends at The Aurora Picture Show!

Shelved somewhere between Amber’s Sweet 16 video and episodes of The Young and The Restless may lie the greatest found video of all time. We were looking for those magical time capsules, the ridiculous juxtapositions caused by recording over a recorded tape, the unrecognizable and the ridiculous on video. Scenes from yard sales, thrift stores, estate sales, dumpsters, curbside, heavy trash day, sitting in alleys... wherever!

FOUND ART at Intuit Gallery in Chicago

We receive 10 to 20 wonderful and amazing, funny and heartbreaking finds every day, mailed in from all around the U.S. and all over the world. opening the mail is fun! the finds are great, but it's also great to read the notes that folks write us which explain their finds - where they found it, why they found it so fascinating, etc. looking at all the mail, it really hits home the extent to which FOUND Magazine is a community project, a real gigantic collaborative effort. we wanted to give you a sense of how things look from here at FOUND HQ, so at Intuit we put up hundreds of FOUND notes that have arrived recently, along with the notes from the finders that came with them, and the envelopes we received them in. a wild range of stuff, including a man's application to an atlantic city casino and his accompanying chest x-ray! we'll also have tons of FOUND Polaroids from our rapidly growing Found Polaroid collection. Please join us at our opening hullabaloo! it's this friday, jan.7, 2005. doors open at 5pm, and our special presentation is at 7pm sharp. we're gonna bring a bunch of unopened mail and ask you to open it up and read your favorites aloud. plus we'll read a few of our all-time favorite finds, and a short funny piece about adventures from FOUND Magazine's 50-state tour last year. the opening party is FREE!
