Unless this guy's in a movie, he sat around for hours waiting for his girl to show up so he could work his magic, and she never showed up. And then he found out she wasn't that interested in him anyway.

Anyone else find the "Turn Around" portion of this find a tad creepy? I mean, it seems like this note is to a girl that this guy has been following around and he's finally got the courage to tell her how he feels (awwww, not). I imagine this guy dropping this note to her secretly, then on the "turn around" part, she turns to find her stalker in ready-grab position. She struggles, he takes hold and runs off, leaving this sad/creepy note to flutter to the ground. Luckily, many people around these "star-crossed-lovers" have enough sense to stop the man, and he's now in jail. Happily Ever After, the end.

I thought the scenario worked like this:
the boy sat behind the girl in class, and reached around to pass her this note. she read it, then decided to turn around and find out who it was sitting there. she must've been carrying it around with her, and it fell out of her pocket on the hike. That's too bad she lost it, but i'm happy someone found it for all us to enjoy! Great note. And yes, Valentines' Day cards are best when hand-written.

not straight - I see your point and do sympathize, but remember that the same thing happens to all women, straight or o/w.

Don't know if you are male or female, but if people are talking about an unknown person or generalizing about most professions - doctors, delivery people, lawyers... they will always refer to them as "he". As in someone says "I went to the doctor today" - you say "What did he say?" I do it myself! It's not fair, but I don't know if I would call it bias as much as using the term which is more likely; easier than saying "he or she" all the time - and apparently "they" is bad grammar, though I think it's a good solution.

This may be the one of the only cases I would say that there may be LESS homophobia than it appears!

Aww, this is adorable. I also choose to imagine he was standing behind her with a ring, the note got lost in the excitement, and they lived happily ever after.

PS - "not straight" - I also assumed it was a guy based on the handwriting - blocky and all in caps for a romantic note - just seems to me a gal wouldn't do that.

Don't go bias-hunting. Sadly, it will find you enough in this world.

Something about the "You win (or is it I win)" part makes me think there's already an established relationship.

Frank in San Antonio: That's the funniest comment I've ever read on this site.

Not Straight: You make it sound like a mostly-straight society is a new thing, and everyone's getting caught up in the craze. To me, the assumption that the writer is male implies that many people were simply not raised around a lot of openly gay people, and thus a hetero couple is the default image that springs to mind. I think it's more a result of unintentional conditioning, not homophobia or "straight bias."

It's unlikely that he's a stalker if they've already had a conversation before (sounds like a meaningful one as well). In any case, if you're just naturally pessimistic... you just need to be taught how to dream. =)

I think he was stalking her and he's crazy.

-"Sat down and talk" refers to the time he asked her if she knew the time.
-"Stole my Heart" means he's taken many "secret" photos and there's a shrine built for her somewhere in his closet or under his bed.
-She's ignoring him and avoiding his notes and mixed tapes.
-Finally he was giving up and she had won..But alas!, he knew only five hours after placing the note in her locker that she would be standing there reading it. He wins.

Reminds me of a card I got after being with my boyfriend for a number of months. He wrote very sweet things, ended it with: "I think it's time we take our relationship to the next level.
