Roses Are Dead
FOUND by Melissa Kramer in Tucson, Arizona
My husband, who works at a middle school, found this in the computer lab. Apparently it was a rough draft because it was typed up on the computer and adorned with different graphics. Most of them, obviously, were roses.

Wow, this looks just like one of the many notes that floated around my middle school. I love how the computer time was always spent writing and typing up things like this. Kinda sad... kinda funny.

I think most of us at some point have created our own special "roses are ___" poem.

Poor girl, it sure doesn't make me miss being a teen.

Although I have to admit I liked it. It sounds like something I would have written back in the day.

I love this... LoL it sounds like something I would have typed up in middle school. Its sad tho, because you know that somewhere in that school there is a middle school girl trying to be all grown up and pretend that she wasn't hurt by a first love when shes probably devastated... poor girl... too bad kids don't stay kids longer...

Shocking. The things middle school (is that grades 7 & 8?) kids know... and say. Why are they talking about such adult things at such a young age? Why are they doing them?

I have to say though....it makes me thankful those days are OVER!! Being grown up DOES have it's priveleges....one being, you never have to go to middle school again.

Do you know how many times I wanted to write something like this when I was growing up? It's the ultimate revenge on a cheater.....letting him know you cheated on him too and he never knew. This was a pretty clever poem. I hope she's happier now.

I admit- when truly enraged/wronged, my first inclination has never been to...seek revenge through written, rhyming verse.

Not that I'm suggesting there's a right or wrong way to go about exacting it.

When i was always told that if you wanted to truely get a boy back, dont write him a poem cuz its doubtful that he will actually read it.

Instead, catch him when he is with his friends and simply...look him in the face...than at his package...and then up at his face again and with a simple smirk on your face and your thumb and index finger less than an inch apart for the whole world to see! Everyone will know what you mean!

Too bad this isn't an original poem. I passed this as a chain letter in the 6th grade. I'm a third year in College now. Good to know some sayings just never get old.

I could actually tell this was not her composition, as it flowed much too well and seemed obviously written by someone much older. Plus almost everything was spelled correctly and everyone knows middle schoolers can't spell.

Ahhhh, all my favorite writing peeves! "Too" incorrectly spelled as "to". Upper case where lower case should go, lower case where upper case should go. Bubble-shaped letters. The letter "y" with the funky angular hook. The words "cuz" and "u". And so much more!

I think this is a great find. Me and some girlfriends have come up with several of our own versions of "Roeses are..." about ex-boyfriends etc, but I think this one is truly the best one yet! Well done.
