Better Career
FOUND by Sandra in Asheville, North Carolina
I had recently began work at a local doctor's office in replacement of one of the assistants who had left. I had to go into the pharmacy closet to get some meds when I spotted this scrap gem on the floor. At first I thought I was reading it wrong since my feelings about the new job weren't too optimistic that day. Was it a sign? Was it a warning from the employee I had replaced? Did someone know something I didn't? Which "better career" did they purchase, and is it really all that easy?

Damn... can't beat a better career for $29.99! What a buy, what a deal. And sold by sweet La'Loni!

But can she do the hula?

Could the $2.09 tax on a better career be considered a redistribution of wealth ?

Career, as in move swiftly in an uncontrolled way. Better, as in more swiftly, or more controlled or perhaps more uncontrolled?

In any case, sounds like a good deal at the price.

You'd expect the mastercard people to have "better career" as the 'priceless' in the advert, if that is 29.99, what is priceless? Must be something pretty good.

There are some things in life money can't buy, for everything else there's mastercard

If I wanted a better career, I think I'd go out as soon as the store opens in the morning, as opposed to putting it off until almost noon. I wonder if the purchaser tried to rationalize waiting until after lunch.

To be honest, I'm spending more time pondering sweet La'Loni.

Poor Lelani, her mommy can't spell. (That song was huge when I was about 6.)

A better career for $32? I'm all over it! But always mistrust those websites that want money up front before they make you rich. Someone's gonna get rich, but it ain't gonna be you.

I don't know about what you guys are thinking... but La'Loni could probably use a better career.

A Better Career at T.J. Maxx? It must be on the shelf, next to A Better Marriage.

Oddly enough, I was singing the TJ Maxx jingle just yesterday, after spotting one of their bags on my fiance's bedroom floor. For those not familiar with this work of advertising art, which has been getting stuck in my head every so often for the last 25 years or so, check this out:

Effie, I never would have made that connection, with it saying "MasterCard" at the bottom. It makes perfect sense in the context of this receipt. Nice catch!

I always thought it would be horrible to work in a pharmacy. All those sick people coming to get their meds, and the occasional mental person, angry that their prescription has run out.

Maybe a perfume.

Maybe tinyurls expire quickly. Try this (just delete the break in the middle). It's very important that everyone share in the joy of getting the max for the minimum, minimum price!

hey, that receipt is from my local T.J. Maxx. I always just thought there was a bunch of worthless junk in there. Hope the line won't be too long tomorrow morning when people start hearing about the better career special they have over there.

I think working in a pharmacy would be horrible too, although I like the people who work in our local pharmacy; they seem to like the work. But it's small in there. It would be like being cooped up in a cage all day. And then there are all those sad times when you'd have to tell people that their meds aren't covered by insurance anymore.. especially the old people. I've seen that happen more and more lately, and it's really sad.

@Flargy: Maybe TJMaxx will have "Better Tinyurls" on sale next week. *cross fingers*

Should've splurged for the Jumbo-url. Those tiny ones don't last as long.

This is awesome. I have worked at TJ Maxx for years. I started after high school to make some cash until something better came along. Well, a few years passed, and sadly, no better career was to be found...
I finally went to college, but I still put in some hours on nights and weekends until I graduate. I'll get that better career soon!
Oh, La'Loni, if you're still ringing a register, hang in there.
Oh, and to clear up the confusion. We have the "career" department which consists of regular, non-brand name stuff, and "better career" which has "better" clothing like DKNY blouses and whatnot.
