Desperately Seeking ... August 04, 2007 |
We collect FOUND stuff: love letters, birthday cards, kids' homework,
to-do lists, ticket stubs, poetry on napkins, telephone bills, doodles -
anything that gives a glimpse into someone
else's life. Anything goes...
Why is this so familiar?
Happy Thanksgiving, friends!
That heart looks like a liver. Happy Turkey Day.
"Alas, poor Jurich, I knew him, Horatio Caine."
The autopsy proved to the CSI they caught the killer.
A declaration of love from Doctor Fronkensteen...
Um. Ew. That's only funny in the literal sense.
Happy Thanksgiving, fellow Americans. The rest of y'all can go about your day per usual.
It's hard to beat teenage love for misguided romance.
...and if you don't return my love, yours will be too.
Alex? Alex Portnoy? Have you been at the dinner again?
Weird. Given that it's a 16 yr old, nowadays you'd just think it was a Valentine's gift between goths or emos... but was that a common teenage attitude in 1966?
Happy Thanksgiving people in US! Nice to see you're all having a nice day - not many comments on here today.
Thank you for the lovely card, my young friend. You'll never know how much it means to me.
Yours Truly,
H. Lechter, MD
And he died of an enlarged heart.
Is that Worcestershire sauce on the side?
Doesn't it seem strange that an enlarged heart is a bad thing? And why is Worcestershire pronounced "wooster?"
I LOVE this photo, btw.
@wishin' in hopin'.. There was plenty of angst in the 1960s. There was the Vietnam war, for one thing. But there was also Free Love, no AIDS, and very weak marijuana. All of those things caused plenty of confusion between joy and heartbreak.
Not to mention that teenagers did fall in love and get their hearts broken, just like now.
HAPPY GOBBLE-GOBBLE to all my American friends and the ones on here...ours was last month...living in Toronto, Ontario...but God Bless to you and yours and get stuffed!!!!
The FIND...I like how it's B&W and a polaroid...but...not romantic enough for Valentines Day...maybe it was this person's Birthday, too!!!!!!!!!! On Feb 14th/66!!!
Sorry...had to say it!
Please quit forking with my heart.
PS. I have my pants off so be careful when you look down through the the table during our romantic dinner...
Eat your heart out, baby.
Good one, Hiplainsdrifter. Hahaha! Quit forking with my heart!!
(I wish I could be so clever...)
At age 16, this person had quite the sense of humor. 1966 was a bit before Monty Python's era, so maybe the influence was...Harold and Maude?
I can't believe no one has said it. I will: Creeeepy.
Not to mention grotesque. The bow just puts me away.
Many and varied and *serious* issues, here.
@Fooch: Harold and Maude came out in 1971, around the time of Monty Python and both after this photo was taken.
@Clover: I love this photo, too. Thanks for your sensitive comments about teenage angst. I think sometimes people forget what it was like to be that age.
Thank you, Francis Mynatt Monroe in North Hills, California for submitting this Find. I hope you're having a wonderful Thanksgiving!
wow- when I looked earlier, I didn't even see the carving fork in the middle of the whatever the heck it is.. this actually is kind of.. creeeepy. IS it a cow heart or something? (deer? moose? elk? bear?)
Googling the Finder results in ... this Find.
Everyone can give Thanks today if you want to.. even those of you in Canadia and Zimbabwe.
I'm thankful that Jason and Davy thought up a way to share their love of Finding stuff with the world. I'm thankful that Found number SIX is almost here!! I'm thankful that I remembered to get beer yesterday, since retrotown closes up tight as a drum on Thanksgiving...
"You have such a cold heart my darling I can barely feel your heart beating for love... I don't know if we should still together"
brings new meaning to the phrase, "eat your heart out."
i would set new world records for break-up speed if i received a photo like this.
If you look at the picture you can see aluminum foil and bread on the back. Maybe this heart was cooked (or boiled) and it was intended for a delicious heart-sandwich
bon apetit....
...I know too well
Im underneath your spell,
So, darling, if you smell
Something burning, its my heart.
Excuse me!
(Tom Lehrer, Masochism Tango)
OMG!!! Tom Lehrer..that song was my favorite that he did! (Seems we had a thread on Dr. D not too long ago).
Thanks, up, for that memory.
...from your friends in the Donner Party.
Happy Trails!
this strikes me as something Hannibal Lecter would do for Clarice Starling....
i kinda like it.
classy. i actually really like this.
it is gross but still makes me smile
Yes it is kind of emo but has anyone noticed that this boy is both referencing Edgar Allen Poe and giving his love a collection of Shakespeare all while being 16?
