We collect FOUND stuff: love letters, birthday cards, kids' homework,
to-do lists, ticket stubs, poetry on napkins, telephone bills, doodles -
anything that gives a glimpse into someone
else's life. Anything goes...
That's precious.
Do you think that this has anything to do with the Barb who distributed the hard not-cookies? (found in an early find of the day) maybe her baking skills weren't as good as they used to be...
Does that say "Shuffleboard gang"!? That's so funny!
Have a happy 80th, Barb. And many more!
These gangs are such a problem. They permeate all walks of life. And this note may say "give what you want," but we all know that if a member doesn't kick in at least a C-note to celebrate Barb's day, beatings will be dealt out.
Apparently, Barb only had enough retirement money to last until she was 80, so money is more needed than gifts. Luckily, shuffleboard is a rather cheap hobby.
sadly, Barb only had one 80th birthday
Specific birthdays are one to a customer, Helen, and if you're lucky you'll get to have your one 80th birthday, too.
Go Team Barb! Hope you've been having many more happy birthdays and shuffleboard games with the gang!
I hope I can be in a gang when I'm 80, even if it's one that revolve around shuffleboard.
Hopefully Barb is celebrating her 85th this year...
OMG.. nothing to do with the FIND itself, but I think I MET this Finder in some dive bar in Montana, back in about 1986!!! ("we flew doan aboat a week ago" had me totally confused- how could they have flown in a boat? Maybe that was the draft beer muddling my skills of comprehension?)
Then again, Marc Gauthier may be a very common name for Canadian dudes.
Do you suppose they go around intimidating people with those broom thingies and the giant checker pieces in their gang?
Or is "shuffleboard" code for something more sinister?
that is absolutely lovely.
What exactly is shuffleboard?
Ally, it is a game, sterotypically played by the elderly, that involves giving a big puck-looking object a mighty shove with a stick and trying to get it into a triangle at the end of the playing area. The triangle is divided into different point areas and you can bump people out of the way and off the point area.
Or so I've been told.
The Crips and Bloods will be paying some attention to this new gang, I'll bet.
Nice gesture, but what gift do you give someone who is eighty?
