We collect FOUND stuff: love letters, birthday cards, kids' homework,
to-do lists, ticket stubs, poetry on napkins, telephone bills, doodles -
anything that gives a glimpse into someone
else's life. Anything goes...
As beautiful in its way as "Punk Abrasion." The texture makes it look like a sun-shower, not rain. Physically present sunbeams! I like it.
"Come Saturday morning, I'm going away with my friend. We'll Saturday spend till the end of the day; just I and my friend, dressed up in our rings and our Saturday things."
And yes, it should be "me and my friend" or "my friend and me." But that's the way it's written in the song.
Oh. I get it. It took me a minute: handlebars.
photoimpressionistic.
ah, yes. Tricycle?
lovely.
simplicity.
Love it.
This is not a joke:
I thought that poor kid was trying to ride his bike away from a biblical sized swarm of locusts.
RIDE FOR YOUR LIFE!
No, this young'un is dowsing for water.
This makes me think of that Prince song "Purple Rain" except the rain is yellow and it's lovely.
Yes, this is beautiful. If you scanned it and blew it up large, it could pass as purposeful art.
Counting the steps for the American Apparel ad for Le Sac dress has me confused. It looks like only two actual steps to me. The others are just different views Step 2. I do approve the use of French, however. VoilĂ !
Who takes a picture of the back of your kid's head?
For some reason I feel like donating to an autism charity...
It's a beautiful picture. But is that a thigh-master in his hands?
Elmer couldn't afford a tricycle for Little Bubba or a good camera to take a picture of him after the okra harvest went bust in the locust storm. So he did the best he could: bought just the handlebars, and dried out that tourist's camera that got dropped in the bayou and swallowed by the gator. And, dang, but don't Little Bubba run faster now ... Elmer can't push the little picture-taking button on the camera with his good finger before the little guy is already past.
Whole thing brings a tear to my eye.
You know, if you actually tried to achieve this effect on purpose without resorting to image software, you probably couldn't. True Found Art!
Gorgeous. Truly.
That's a great story, Librarian! :)
She is actually showing off by displaying a feat of super-human strength - bending steel bars.
She will be the first 6 year old girl to compete in the "World's strongest man" contest.
Grrrr!
so i had the opportunity this a.m. to be the first to comment, but i withheld my thoughts. because they go like this:
"really, vestal? really this is the single most beautiful thing you have ever found?"
i knew everyone else would find it beautiful, too.
I thought the title was misspelled and it should've been "Scraped Beauty". Although either applies, I suppose.
Looks like there's a date in the bottom right corner: (something) 21, 98?
I love the violent green of the grass. I love that Orinoco Womble mentioned Punk Abrasion. I love how huge that kid's ears are, sticking out beneath his summertime crew cut.
But I don't love the Find enough to boot any of my nine (NINE? only NINE? really now, guys!) Favorite Finds of All Time.
