Magritte
FOUND by Reed in Casper, Wyoming
I found this slide today in an abandoned house pending tear-down. It's dated 1964.

Just a simple picture, but it is so, so beautiful.

These kinds of photos make me wax strangely nostalgic for a place, people, and time that I never knew. You can see why this photo was abandoned by the folks who once owned it, but you can still somehow see in it the life of one who was a life long gardener. A very personal photo, even sans the visibility of the face.

I adore this photo... its mysterious and yet strangely familiar. Beautiful.

A bit further to the right and this would be almost the perfect homage to Magritte.

living stalks with showy faces, white and dark, all lovely... her identity isn't obscured- she is identified through her connection to the plants. the imperfections throw me off balance, help me remember reality is just like this, best not planned.

My literature class and I recently read Lorraine Hansberry's "A Raisin in the Sun." For some reason this picture reminds me of the hope that got them through the end.

I love it.

Alice in Wonderland
Funny enough, this immediately reminded me of Because Of Winn Dixie.
I haven't read it in so long.
But I instantly associated the two.

I agree it does make me wax strangely for a time and place I've never known. What's crazy is someone threw this out because it wasn't a "good" picture.
