Right To Remain... August 02, 2006 |
We collect FOUND stuff: love letters, birthday cards, kids' homework,
to-do lists, ticket stubs, poetry on napkins, telephone bills, doodles -
anything that gives a glimpse into someone
else's life. Anything goes...
Now that's my kind of neighborhood! That's exactly how it was walking to school!
I really like the drawing of the dragon, with the leash on and all!
See, this is where that annoying chick came from, one of these dungeons!!!
Go back to your dungeon, not your rock!
GAWD!
doesnt anyone else see yesterday's description under the title of this Find?
is that a beaver's tail in the bottom left? or the dragon's arm?
@ mona lisa ... it's yesterday's decription for sure.
The drawing strikes me as the first draft plan for a video game: Sir Super Mario and the Kingdom of Devil Dragons.
What makes this funny now it the title from yesterday's Find! Please fix this ADMIN at Found!
Thanks!
"I picked this up on the street near Central Square. Nothing too special about the content of the note, but I like how it looks like the "dumb ass" is pooping into a magical Tahitian lagoon."
Oh ok, the devil has a pitchfork because it helps feed sinners to the dragon. I always kind of wondered what the pitchfork was for.
i love how the guy on the ladder thinks he's escaping the dragon, but the devil guy on top will just chase him down the hole again.
everyone is doomed.
I was thinking how could a dumbass be pooping into a lagoon two days in a row? Even though I knew better I searched for it.
I didn't see yesterdays found, so I spent a few minutes looking for a "magical tahitian garden" being pooped in. I was worried I was really missing something!!
Great reason to never miss a found day. I solemnly swear to try to do better and check each and every day.
As for this one, those pitchfork wielding dudes are almost kinda scary. I was impressed at the size of the hot dog on the lower guys fork, 'till I realized that was probably the pooping guy being impaled for messing up the garden.
Ouch.
This is a picture of where I work.
after damon locked himself in his room, he got right to work drawing the metaphor for the night he had to endure with one of "those girls."
Thank goodness this was found!
It seems I've been taking the long route to DOOM for some time now.
Maybe this is Damon's lair of "annoying girls"? I know a few I'd like to feed to a dragon too...
Either this is a drawing of an actual video game (I'm not too up on those things) or someone's idea of a cool video game.
@Carla Sue-I SAW yesterday's find and I still looked around the drawing in confusion for something I was missing. Then, I started reading the comments. Either I need more coffee or some medication for the beginning of Alzheimer's.
Love the devil with the pitchfork, chasing the guy on the top.
Having never played Doom (never even seen the game), I am clueless as to the significance.
However, I was tickled to see yesterday's description and really did look for another 'dumb ass.'
that dude at the bottom left with something impaled on the pitchfork... is he FEEDING a person to the giant lizard??
I LOVE the ladder, leading to infinity- but I wonder where it goes if he jumps off onto that path at the right.
Very odd glitch with the Finder's Blurb, though--
Shouldn't there be another map showing us the shortcut to paradise?
Maybe there are no such shortcuts.
I think the little guy has a chance of escaping the jaws of death by climbing into the tunnel leading off to the right. But where does it lead to? That is the question.
LOL@ RAWR!, CARLA SUE, MLM, too funny!!
The ellusive sewer alligator lives!
is it just me, or does it seem like the Found guys aren't as attentive as they used to be? Maybe they're busy being rock stars on tour or something.
Mona Lisa, it's an octopus or squid type creature - most of the tentacles are out of the picture but you can see one.
e - i thought that was a total non sequitir, till i realized that i asked about that beaveroid thing in the bottom left part of the drawing.
10 points to anyone who can name the sci fi novel that 'beaveroid' comes from.
@Mona Lisa- I can't name that novel, but with regard to the Found guys, I think they ARE being rock stars with their (or, at least Jason's) new website "Cassette from my Ex". It got a shout out on Pop Candy, USA Today's online pop culture column. Please don't forget which side your bread is buttered on, guys!
All of the Found Folk have several different projects going on, not to mention that they're probably working on Found 3 (the book) and Found Magazine 6! (Let's hope!!)
I'm pretty sure that they all have ... lives.. or something, too. I can certainly overlook the glitches and snafus. In fact, the little glitches and snafus make Found all that much more intriguing to me.
I love typing Found's web address into my browser and being taken to some completely random Find from June of 2004. I love squinting at a Doom drawing, looking for the pooping dumbass, only to realize that it's yesterday's news.. and knowing that I'm in good company, because I'm not the only one looking for the dumbass in the Tahitian Lagoon.
@mona lisa
That is neither a beaver tail nor an arm on the lower left. It is The Owl of Truth facing away from the camera, observing the goings on for posterity.
@mlm... i don't think we're buttering their bread at all. Or do they somehow benefit from all of us punching in here on a daily basis (or multiple times in a day) All i know is that i feel left out.
@ alan goes "pting": You can't draw a map of or take a shortcut to a place that clearly doesn't exist.
Unless maybe that tunnel on the middle level goes there.
I'm pretty sure a good number of major artists have started out like this. Hironamus Bosch (sp?)comes to mind.
Woooo..."Snakes and Ladders" takes on a whole new, sinister meaning.
(Note: I once had the misfortune to read a book in which the author devoted a whole chapter to the Satanic meaning of children's board games. Rather forced, most of it...I think the author was the one with the problem! Maybe he drew this as a rough illustration idea?)
Ahh.. thank you. the Owl of Truth. I think he came to me in a dream once.
@Mona--I know, but at least we can say "we knew them when..." :) I tried clicking on the link from USA Today and it would not load, so maybe they're having all sorts of problems? I guess Mr. Bunnicle might be right in that they have lives away from us. Harrumph...
I can't believe no one has remembered Dante and his circles of Hell...different levels with different torments. "Abandon hope all ye who enter here," right enough.
I wonder how big the original drawing was; for their size, the figures are quite detailed and well-drawn.
Jonathan MUST have something to say...where are you?
Well, I've amassed the complete Found Library.. including LaPorte, Indiana and the Found Polaroid Book. All I'm missing is The Lone Surfer of Montana Kansas, and my collection will be complete... (and then when My Heart is an Idiot comes out on DVD.. and and and)
So I would say that some of us here are definitely doing some buttering. I know I'm not the only one who's purchased the books and mags.. I haven't gotten a tee shirt yet, but I know that many people have. I will, soon, because I love this site, and want to see it not only survive, but thrive!
And Mona, I'd have to say that YES, the Found Folk DO benefit from people clicking in here, telling our friends, family, and acquaintances about Found, adding favorite Finds (and links!) to our Myspace pages..
quite a creative drawing.
the beaveroid thing is the giant lizard's scaly arm. you can see the clawful "hand" at the bottom.
My refusal to use Windows is what makes me learn to do everything using only Linux, even though it usually requires long times in front of the computer researching and tweaking the hints google.com/linux gives me. But, at least I can say that at the end the results are satisfying, I end up learning more about Linux (recommend start from the ebook http://www.ebook-search-queen.com ) and how powerful a command line application can be compared to a most GUI application. I must admit that I do prefer GUI in the majority of the cases, is just that from time to time I am amazed by the power of the CLI.
