We collect FOUND stuff: love letters, birthday cards, kids' homework,
to-do lists, ticket stubs, poetry on napkins, telephone bills, doodles -
anything that gives a glimpse into someone
else's life. Anything goes...
thats so sad
I am alarmed that this 'find' was in fact physically removed from a door by Steven Holt of California. I worry that the Silver Dragon's loyal customers will have abandoned the restaurant forever in the mistaken belief that it has closed down, when in fact somebody had just removed the information notice that would have reassured them of its imminent reopening...
If you punctuate the end of the note oddly it looks like it's signed by the Inconvenient Manager.
I didn't know Silver Dragon closed down for 2 weeks! They're very nice folks and the food is not bad! =P
Aww. I feel like crying. :(
This made me laugh so hard I peed a little...
Is that wrong?
I agree with Lindsey's comment. Why would you remove the note from the door? They obviously left it for a reason, to explain to customers that they were closed for two weeks, not for good. I don't care for this type of "find," and I think this one is a little tacky.
Once again I agree with Beka. And yes Ashley it is wrong.
i agree with erin in indiana. being asian- american, but without an accent, i get offended when i hear / see people make fun of asians / immigrants with accents and poor english.
I find this very sweet, and more than a little sad.
It reminds me of this little restaurant in my town, where the employees speak very limited English.
Once I was sitting there, and one of them approached me with a phone. The person on the other end was trying to place an order, and the poor girl was quite distraught at being unable to understand them. Naturally, I wrote the address for her.
And I also think that taking the note was not neccassary. Surely a picture would have sufficed?
Guys it's alright. The Silver Dragon is up and running again i ate there last night. Once people saw the lights and stuff in the restaurant they knew it was open again...(sorry bout spelling)
You weirdo, why did you steal the sign off of their door?
Hey Fluent, sometimes it's just funny to hear/see people trying to speak/write a language they don't know well. Sometimes it's downright hilarious.
If I moved to a non-English-speaking country while having only a half-assed grasp of that country's language, I wouldn't blame the folks there for laughing at my mangling of their native tongue. In fact, I'd be happy to provide people with such comedy.
Mmmm. The Silver Dragon... Delicious! If you are ever in Davis, you must go!!
Well he got his point across...till some weirdo took his sign! He probably made another. But guys, that's why God gave us cellphones that take pictures, that way you don't even have to scan things.
I'm glad the Silver Dragon's back up and running. Some of these comments were hilarious. However, it's not really a "find" if you're taking it. It's a "steal."
I too get angered when I hear people make fun of those with heavy accents messing up a bit. It's not easy learning a new language and the dicks that are patronizing them in the first place only speak douche bag to begin with.
The timing of the original post reminded me of "A Christmas Story"
(completely non-sequiter, but...) have any of you guys seen Arresed Development? Steve holt!!!!! (get it? the finder's name?)
Ashley, not wrong to pee... maybe wrong to TELL us about it, tho. <eesh!>
This find reminds me:
Everybody visit engrish.com (Hilarious!)
Flargy is right.
When I was 20 I got married and moved to Germany for three years. I heard a lot of ignorant Americans complaining about Germans not speaking English, when it was taught to all of them from an early age. @@ Anyway, I always tried very hard to speak German whenever I was out and about, but, being both a southern girl as well as having taken French, I seriously butchered those poor peoples language so badly, that they would break down and speak English to me almost every time. It was embarrassing but funny and they were always nice about it. :o) I'm sure I'm on a website somewhere called Deutschlish. LOL!
Steve Holt...Arrested Development anyone?
Okay, as someone (a douche-bag, I guess) who HAS lived elsewhere where I had a seriously poor grasp of the language, I got a kick out of my own linguistic mistakes (which were numerous). People always smiled when I talked to them-- NOT offensive, TOTALLY normal and only to be expected. Also, it's absurd to be offended on someone else's behalf.
OMG Lunatic-I went to engrish.com and I LOVED it! I am now addicted! Found, PostSecret, and now engrish.com!
i'm in love with that handwriting. beautiful.
OMG Steve Holt from Arrested Development might be real. Best show ever. And I agree with Flargy, couldn't be said better.
Oh Fluent please. Language is funny and speaking a second language is always going to result in super funny. engrish.com is awesome and only cements my love for Asians.
This is so sad...
and I agree, I think it was wrong to take this one..
It seems so sweet, somehow, appologizing to others for being closed for such a short period of time, when they've had so much hardship
Stuff tacked up on bulletin boards and in windows and on doors of businesses isn't a "find."
Please.
This sign should probably also be posted on engrish.com
just to add to your list of websites (not that you'll ever see this) www.awkwardfamilyphotos.com
I agree with Flargy in Esperanto class about Fluent (what a spas). Shut your pie-hole Fluent I mean really now. Just because they’re here working and learning our lingo (albeit a half assed job) doesn’t mean the rest of us can’t get a chuckle out of it. This guy is actually in management so he’s seems to be doing well. Thanks for the laugh!!
