We collect FOUND stuff: love letters, birthday cards, kids' homework,
to-do lists, ticket stubs, poetry on napkins, telephone bills, doodles -
anything that gives a glimpse into someone
else's life. Anything goes...
"I am like the old friend you don't keep in contact with?" That is the craziest way to describe yourself. "I am the person who you talk to.." Like out of obligation? I think it's just brutally honest. I bet this person went on to live a long life working at HyVee in Des Moines, IA. Some of my old friends who I don't keep in touch with sure did!
perhaps if he'd used the line... he would have won
Maybe he lost because no one kept regular concact with him. ^^
I think his scrawled out extra line is really sad. There is a certain forlorn sensation accompanying his removal of the personal side of his speech. The potential hope and ambition mixed up inside of his campaign makes it seem like he resigned himself to lose the election when he realised his role in his school and chose not remind people of it.
I hope he went on to succeed in other aspects of his life.
I thought immediately of Steve Carrell's character Michael Scott from the American version of The Office writing this... somebody that means well and really wants everybody to like him, but who will never, ever succeed.
I like people who "participate in sports". I would have voted for him. I know my mom would too, but she's too old for this sort of thing.
He could have kept the part about being the person you talk to in class. Maybe re-worked it a little to imply that he's available at anytime to discuss problems.
This poor kid needs a PR rep.
He's going to make a great psychotherapist -what personal insight! I think he threw the election - gave it to some other patsy and got on with his own life - give him a couple more years and he will be standing for President! Well done you!
This sounds too much like my ex boyfriend.
He needs to can the "I believe" in the first phrase, and just say "I am..." the poor kid has absolutely NO self confidence!
I hope s/he's gained some since typing this rough draft.
