My Soping List
FOUND by Kerrie Casey in Sydney, Australia
I found this sweet little item outside the fruit market in Broadway Shopping Centre. Emma's spelling is certainly very creative; I hope she got her lollies.
Keely
Whatever an orench is, that mango seems to really like it.

Emma is a woman after my own heart; I always thought "banana" had far too many vowels in it. Her version is much more to-the-point.

The Captain in Tenille
this is so cute. I was wondering if lolys meant lollies, then read the Finder's comment. I wonder why the lollies have no sticks.

LOL@ Keely. It took me a second look a moment to figure out wtf you were talking about.
I wonder if the drawing under her name is supposed to be her arm/hand or an order of McDonald's french fries.
+ October 21, 2007 12:39 AM +
emma (yes, i mean it!) in love
this found is adorable! when i reached "Emma" my heart just lit up. i hope i was that cute when i was little.

She can spell "mangos", but not "orange"? She must really like mangos.
+ October 21, 2007 01:51 AM +
the man behind the curtain in oz
'lollie' is the generic word for candy - not just the kind with the stick.

emma has loads of fingers.
+ October 21, 2007 02:23 AM +
Diana in NJ
I'm not sure if the word "apoolos" or the amount of fingers she drew on herself is my favorite.
+ October 21, 2007 07:03 AM +
Going in sane
Even with the magnifier, I thought "lolys" was 10:45, and I wondered why Emma was being so specific with her shopping. Maybe they have a 15-minute sale on fruit?
+ October 21, 2007 07:03 AM +
Sara in Oregon
Do you think that maybe she put all that healthy food on there to encourage her mom to buy the candy?
+ October 21, 2007 07:10 AM +
Elizabeth in Philadelphia
That find is so cute. My son (7 yrs) does the same thing. He'll make up these lists of foods that he wants me to buy- usually stuff that I wouldn't normally buy. The spelling can get pretty creative, too.

Hannahbelle in the fruit aisle at the grocery store
Maybe it's an assignment where they had to identify different kinds of fruit or vegetables, and Emma meant:

My Shopping List:
Mangoes
Artichokes? (I'm not sure exactly what this is)
Oranges
Bananas
Lychees

If she's from a foreign country, she'd know what lychees are. Especially if she's from Asia.
+ October 21, 2007 09:32 AM +
fruit queen in the fridge
those are lollies.....

apples, not artichokes..

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Artichoke
and you dont know what artichokes are???

I like to ate, ate, ate apples and bananas
I like to eat, eat, eat eepples and beeneenees
I like to ite, ite, ite ipples and bininis
I like to ote, ote, ote opples and bononos
I like to ute, ute, ute upples and bununus

I know I will now be singing this all day.

When I am in the darkness, why do you intrude?
That's too cute to be true. I love it.
+ October 21, 2007 01:30 PM +
Gigi in deep into peace & quiet today!
I LOVE this - a child's view of anything is so pure. This is colorful, fun & you know she had it in a little purse or bag.
Yep -this needs to go onto the fridge.

This find reminds me of the old Procol Harum Song "Fresh Fruit".

"In praise of fruit I wrote this song
Because of fruit my heart is strong
Who could estimate its worth?
Fruit's the finest food on earth"

I think the lack of an "h" in "shopping" shows that the kid has a speech impediment. Notice also "orench," not "orenj."

I am not a huge fan of the 'kiddy finds'. I know some of you think they are cute, but I think it's pretty weird. It's especially strange for a bunch of adults to be disecting the thoughts of a child.

ah! so cute :]
apoolos = apples!
what a cute kid. totally made my day :]

Blade in staring at the glowy box
I'm not sure it's apples, unless she wants a pile of little green ones- the rest of the pictures are at least a vague approximation of the word they're next to.
+ October 21, 2007 07:34 PM +
Night in gale
Of course it's "apples", Blade. Lots of people like Granny Smith apples.

Sean S., just wait until you're a Daddy.

yeah, I agree with you sean s. this is weird. its weird that a bunch of adults who don't even know this kid are making all these comments about it like it is a cottage they are contemplating buying.
+ October 21, 2007 08:08 PM +
Sean S. in Rockville, MD.
Okay I'll admit, deep down I think it's cute, but with this diet this kids poop is not going to be pretty. The innocence of a child is alway precious. I just think the raunchy finds are much more discussion worthy.
+ October 21, 2007 08:17 PM +
A Ghost in the Lost and Found
Way to cave, Sean S., you spineless girly-man.

FYI-nobody's poop is pretty. It's POOP!
+ October 21, 2007 08:36 PM +
Sean S. in Rockville, MD.
Yes, but fruity poop is green and liquidy, as opposed to brown and solid.
+ October 21, 2007 08:41 PM +
Sean S. in a different viewpoint
maybe these are just the different flavors of lollies that she wants.
+ October 21, 2007 08:48 PM +
Christina in Illinois
Sean S. you might want to talk to your doctor if your fruit poops are green and liquidy- that's not normal.

I immediately thought those were McDonald french fries, I didn't realize the "hand" suggestion until people started talking about the # of fingers and confused me. haha
+ October 21, 2007 09:33 PM +
Pepper in your nose
Christie, you are hilarious. I prefer the ranchy finds better too. However, Sean S., I’m beginning to question your gender. Even if you like the raunchy finds better as well, precious is definitely a girly word.
+ October 21, 2007 09:44 PM +
Norma Jean in bed eating, naked, and dirty
I like kid finds too, but I like the find where the kid apologizes for asking what would happen if he shot a policeman more than this one.

ditto norma jean. This one is just too....cute.

This is just further proof that too much fruit in your diet causes polydactylism.

My personal fave is Emma's spelling of "apples" as "apoolos" That's it honey, sound it out.

My stripper name is "Bittersweet Angel."

Honestly with that kind of hand deformity no wonder she can't draw for crap or spell anything. How does she even hold a pencil?

I laught so hard at Going Insane's comment... I cried... The word "Lolys" does look like 10:45, and yeah... it would be not only funny, but suspect if your grocer had a 15 minutes sale on fruits...

when she discovered she'd got seven stubby fingers.

i thought "lolys" was 10145 and i thought "i wonder what she needs and why she needs so much of it."

i must ask though, was this found in england? 'cause nobody i know says "lollies" in the U.S. of A. unless they are odd.

It's an Australian Find, Pie. the Lollies threw me off, too, cuz I didn't see no stinkin' lollie pop sticks.
+ October 25, 2007 12:42 AM +

pie, it says it was found in Sydney, Australia. In Australian dialect, "lollies" means "candies".
