to-do lists, ticket stubs, poetry on napkins, telephone bills, doodles -
anything that gives a glimpse into someone
else's life. Anything goes...

I wonder if some teenaged girl has a propensity for shoplifting, and this was a little reminder that her mother slipped into her pocket before the daughter went to hang out at the mall with friends.
The girl slipped into the bathroom to hide all the shit she just lifted from Claire's, and found the note. Scoffing at her foolish, old-fashioned Mama, she callously tossed the note on the floor... and upon exiting the restroom, was apprehended by mall security.
Shoulda listened to Mama, silly girl.
Looks like management's trying to expand it's loss prevention efforts. Y'know the right message at the right moment is very effective!
I like this a lot, because despite much evidence to the contrary, most people still do have a conscience -- or at least an innate and prevailing fear of the Almighty and eternal damnation.
Yeah. Sorry. This note would not have deterred me one little bit. Would not have caused a moment's hesiation, a fleeting second thought, or even a brief pause for contemplation.
And shouldn't it really say "Thou"?
Haha, I think this is awesome. Perhaps she brought it along as her own personal reminder that she shouldnt be stealing? It makes me imagine her hiding in the bathroom, fighting the temptation, chanting the mantra "You shall not steal" over and over again.
