My late sister was an alcoholic. She seemed to think that “I was drunk” was a valid excuse for any idiotic behaviour and that she shouldn’t be held responsible for any consequences of actions under the influence. Finally a judge pointed this out…and decided that it wasn’t a valid excuse at all.

Do you “call in flu”? Or “call in bronchitis”?
Just “call in sick.” Then get better; but don’t go back to work until you don’t have that disease’s symptoms any longer. Like with the flu or bronchitis. See how that works out for you.
