My late sister was an alcoholic. She seemed to think that “I was drunk” was a valid excuse for any idiotic behaviour and that she shouldn’t be held responsible for any consequences of actions under the influence. Finally a judge pointed this out…and decided that it wasn’t a valid excuse at all.

Do you “call in flu”? Or “call in bronchitis”?
