FOUND by Annie Moss in long-term storage in a high school closet

The parental separation looms large, in spite of the fact that it seems swallowed up by all the colorful stripes on the page.

Ah, middleschool drama…the “best friend” who treats you like dirt. Been there, done that, got over it. It took a long time for me to learn that if you have to chase a person down to see them, they are not your best friend. They’re not even really a friend. Fortunately at that age “best friends” change like the wind changes.

Is it titled “Frog Diary” because it’s written by an actual frog?

Or because it was an English class exercise in fiction writing where the kids were supposed to write as if they were the frog in the ‘Princess and the Frog’ fairy tale?

Or, if it’s a real diary about real pain this is more like a Post Secret sort of thing.

Strange- obviously the parents are separated at the time of this writing- how does the concept of actual “devorce” come as such a surprise?

And we hear all this stuff about the “Rise in Adolescent/Pre-Teen Suicides!” “Alarming!” “Terrifying!” “WHY??” Instead of wringing our hands and OMG!-ing, commissioning a “Study,” a Government Funded Meta Analysis, researching more on “Bullies” can we just stick a sock in the mouth of every adult who says to a kid of this age, “But Honey!!! THESE ARE THE BEST YEARS OF YOUR LIFE!!!”
Sometimes-in fact, often the best response is an honest,”You’re right. It sucks to be you right now. Yeah, it’s gonna get different. No, I don’t know when. I just know it does. Otherwise, no one would ever live long enough to become a “groan-up.” So, anything else that sucks right now?” And shut up and just listen. This too shall pass. Then they’ll be in cars with Driver’s Licenses. Then they’ll forget this bit of angst, and so will you. Then they’ll hate you even MORE. Then they’ll forget this part too and by the time they’re in their early 20′s, you’ll actually have morphed into some one tolerable and perhaps, interesting. And guess what? So will THEY.

Somehow it seems upbeat. Is it perhaps due to the rainbow stationery? And geez I hate it when my second best friend is nonexisting.

Bummer dude (you know like all the other sucky sad diary pages posted about how life sucks)
