I found these pages while walking my dog (I only happened to be on this street to avoid a potentially vicious dog). What fascinates me, besides the misspellings and omissions, is that there are apparently five more pages of this stuff. I think I’m going to start carrying pepper spray.

I found this abused Polaroid stuffed into the center of a Cholla cactus. The girl’s birthday smile seems at odds with the treatment of the photo, which is crumpled and slightly burned in one corner. Perhaps due to anger between mother (maybe the woman with a matching smile in the background) and father, now no longer on speaking terms? Or a rebellious move by the subject of the photo, now a teenager? And what’s up with the giant stuffed tarantula in the bottom left?

I found this when delivering pizza about 4 years ago. It was half buried in someone’s driveway, with just a little corner sticking out. I figure it for some kid’s party or a school activity. It made my day a little, so I’ve kept it since, and I keep it on the dashboard of my car. I call it my “ticket to happiness”.
